It’s nearly all over

March 12, 2007 by · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

I can’t believe that my holidays are nearly all over. I have been spending the last couple of days in the P2/3 looking at Jeemsie’s adventures and am now ready to come home. I have had a marvellous time here in Shetland. What I have noticed since I came here is how light it is becoming now when the children go home from school. When I first arrived it was dark when they were going on the buses now it is light. They say that in the summer it doesn’t get dark here at nights – amazing. It is great to hear that one of Jeemsie’s cousins has moved to Glasgow. I look forward to meeting her. Mrs Mort and P2/3 will be getting me ready and posting me later this week. Bye for now. Mungo x

My last night

March 9, 2007 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

last night I stayed in the classroom with Mrs Waugh while she spoke to all the parents about how well the children have bean working.  I’m ready to come back now.  I met a new Burra cousin of mine this morning.  She is called Tara and she is blue (it’s Euan’s sister Ailsa who saved up all her pennies and bought Tara!) I am sad to be leaving these new friends, but I’m excited and happy to be coming back home.  Love from Jeemsie and all of P2W xxx

Going cycling

Last night was my last night to go home with one of the class.  Douglas took me home.  He got changed and then we went outside to get the bikes out.  They made a little basket for me and I went on Douglas’s handlebars.  We cycled to a big park called Rouken Glen.  There was a big twirly slide, a pottery shop, an ice cream van, a massive noisy waterfall and a cafe.  We cycled all the way round the park and went on the slide.  Then we got a lift back.  Love from Douglas and Jeemsie x  PS. I’m looking forward to coming back home.

Better than Better than Spectacular!

Harry introduced me to the colony and explained why I was visiting Glasgow.  I  watched the Beavers play games and the boys helped me  say the Promise and at the end of the night I was given a Beaver Scout Membership Award Badge.  We watched Flora’s DVD of the motorway!  It was fun. Love from Me x

The class had been on a great trip to the People’s Palace.  It was fun and very interesting finding out all about what life was like in Glasgow for their grannies.  We saw a tour bus, and they thought it would be a good idea for Mrs Waugh to take me off to go on the Open Top Bus tour of Glasgow. She took me to the SECC where there are huge concerts like Busted and Kylie.  We saw a tall ship, the Waverley which is a steam paddle boat that takes you up the River Clyde and to the nearby islands.  It was parked just beside the Science Centre.  We went to the Transport Museum and saw very old trams, then to the International Sports Arena of the Kelvinhall, then across the road to the Kelvingrove Art gallery where I was almost trampled by Sir Roger the gigantic elephant!  I was so tired that I fell asleep before tea!

Lots of love

City Chambers

March 5, 2007 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Matthew and I went to the Glasgow City Chambers.  We were shown around the chambers by his Uncle Graeme and Gary, one of the council officers whose duty it is to carry the mace (it is gold and in the glass case) into the Council Chamber at the start of Council meetings.   Matthew and I were able to sit in the Lord Provost’s chair, a seat gifted by Queen Victoria.  We were also shown the Provost’s private chambers and given a brief history of the building.  Before leaving Gary presented me with a Glasgow City Council goodie bag  which I will take back to Shetland.  After, we watched Pirates of the Caribbean.  I hid under the sofa because I was scared.  We had sweets and stayed up until 9 o’clock.  Love from Jeemsie and Matthew. x

Chocolate

Last night I went with David.  We couldn’t go to the tennis club because it was too late.  So we stayed at his house and we had a tea party with all his other teddies.  We had chocolate and fruit (he even put some chocolate in my lunch box!).  We made a den in his bedroom and we played armies in it.  We took a photo of me being a prisoner!  I played with his little brother Jack.  In bed we read the whole of Captain Underpants.  Love from Jeemsie and David xxxxxxxxxx

Down at da bod

Danielle took me home. She took me to Friday club. On Saturday I had a great time. We went to see a waterfall, it was very loud when the water rushed down over the rocks. We went to Danielle’s dad’s boat and I had to wear a life jacket. We were out and about all day and had such a busy weekend. Love from Mungo and Danielle

Miss Moncrieff took me to the Aith Leisure Centre. I had a very active, busy night. First of all I played table tennis, then I tried to shoot the ball into the basketball net. I really had lots of fun trying to score some goals. After this I got to try the gym equipment in the fitness suite. The weights were really heavy.  I think I have bigger muscles now. Love Mungo and Miss Moncrieff
